Grant to Seeds of Hope Neighborhood Center

This week GSDC was happy to provide a $10,000 grant to Seeds of Hope in Biddeford, ME. Seeds of Hope provides meals to 60-100 people each day, as well as clothing and household items, cold weather housing, healthcare and homeless advocacy. The grant is earmarked for their much needed kitchen renovation. Their current kitchen is not up to code for cooking and they can only reheat food that is brought in. Transporting items and buying premade foods more than triples the cost of providing meals. A new commercial style kitchen will save money in the long run and improve the lives of both the volunteers and the individuals in need.
